What did I smile about in January! - Delhi/Agra/Mumbai

This was the last leg of our trip and as it came to an end we were sad to leave India. But on the bright side we will back soon.

We headed to Agra from Jaipur to see the magnificent Taj Mahal. This was Amit's first trip to Agra and so we decided to get there bright an early to see it as the sun rose over the monument. Needless to say I wasnt too excited about waking up at the crack of dawn but trust me it was worth it -Short lines and a beautiful sun rise. If you visit the Taj Mahal definitely try and get first thing in the morning.

Taj Mahal - everyone knows the story of this beautiful landmark but most people dont know that Shah Jahan had planned to build a black one right across from the white one but that plan didnt materialize. Can you imagine the beauty if he was successful in building both. But for now we can enjoy the beauty of this one.
Fatehpur Sikri - a beautiful little city a short drive from Agra. Was built based on Persian principles and architecture.
Delhi - The capital of India and has so many national monuments and landmarks to see. Unfortunately for us we got there a few days before republic day so several landmarks were closed and on high security in preparation for the Republic day parade. But we still managed to see mostly all of them from the outside. Delhi will be on our list to visit again so we can see them again. One of my favorite spots to see was the Akshardham temple. I don't have many pictures from there as camera's weren't allowed but its a must see. They built this temple in five years and i was amazed by the intricacy of the carvings and the detail in the beauty.
Mumbai - the last stop of our India trip. We were lucky to be there on republic day which meant no to little traffic. We rented a car and drove from one end to the other with Seema who was also in Mumbai at the same time. We had a blast with her and our family who were gracious enough to take me last minute shopping. We miss you India! If it were up to Amit we would be on our way there again in June!
