Fabulous 4's!

I know I say this every year but this year we have definitely noticed a huge change in Aariya and Aashna. They have transformed into little girls, they are not babies or even toddlers any more. Both of them have developed different personalities that gel together for the most part. We always say the first three years of having twins was hard - really really hard! But now it's fun to watch them play and engage each other. Amit and I don't have to constantly entertain them. Like all siblings even the twins fight but they are quick to make peace and are extremely protective of each other, calling out for the other when danger is near. The best is when one gets in trouble and cries and the other starts crying too because the first is in trouble. The best is when they pretend to be our babies and like to engage in baby babble for entertainment value. This has also been a challenging year as they both look to find their personalities and test boundaries with us. We are definitely sharpening our negotiation skills, its harder to distract them and everything has to be reasoned out. They are becoming more independent which is a blessing and a test of my patience. Both of them are self conscious about their baby hands and understand that might cause them to slow down a little but are still willing to push and try everything. They are able to think rationally and confirm with others whether what they are thinking is how everyone sees the situation by ending their sentences with "right?". What a fun year of entertaining conversations!
Aariya - our super curious goof ball. She loves dancing and being silly but is very very understanding. She loves making friends and shines in crowds but is also quite happy playing by herself. By picking up on facial cues she is quick to identify if some one is teasing and can play along. She shy's away from practicing her alphabets but can draw and color for hours on end.
Aashna - my cautious sassy diva. She loves to delegate to accomplish what she needs but in a sweet persuasive way. She is definitely eager to learn and will work on her alphabets and numbers till she has perfected them. Aashna does have her temper on her nose, that triggers easily but she also is able to compose herself quickly and can be very apologetic.

Happy 4th Birthday our loves! We are so proud of your accomplishments and the bright people you are developing into. Please continue to see the beauty in everything just like you do today. Your caring nature and gentle souls are the most refreshing things in our lives!

What did I smile about in November!

This was a very BIG month for us. We sold our home of 13 years and moved into an apartment while we look for our next home. Even with the crazy move we still managed to have some fun.

Dada dadi head home - The grand parents left America on the 8th of November. A significant day in the history of US elections. Thank you for all the special time and for loving and spoiling the twins. We all miss you!
Craziness - As we prepared for our move and packed our things we uncovered items I didnt even remember we had. Aariya and Aashna loved picking them up and creating their own play area and being silly. The best part about moving is we finally got rid of so many things we had not used or need.
Thanksgiving at school - The twins were so excited to invite me to their school "feast". They got to show us their dancing skills and also showed off their newly painted art.
New apartment - We got our keys a week before the actual move and were able to start some moving prior to the movers. This was our first move in over a decade and let me tell you it was overwhelming. The girls helped me place a coconut at our new place for blessings, a new start, a new beginning!
Moving Day! - The day we were preparing for, for over a month finally arrived. We officially signed the closing papers in the morning and then the movers arrived to kick start the big move! Bittersweet day - I cant believe we packed our house into a large moving truck! It all just barely fit.
Happy birthday Amit! - All the A's in our home love the Quatros Leches cake from La Duni and I had planned to pick it up for dinner with the family to celebrate Amit's birthday. The first thing the twins asked as they walked in from school was if i actually remembered to get the cake. Wish you lots of happiness and love for years to come hubs!
Seema masi in town - We had our first visitor at our new apartment. It was so great to see you and enjoy a beautiful day at the park with the kids.
Selfie time - This was the best one we could take, took only 30 tries! This was outside one of favorite restaurants Mi Dia in Grapevine. They had a beautiful tree set up outside.
Thanksgiving - we had a fun and busy thanksgiving day. Started off with an awesome win for the Cowboys with our Kenyan family and then finished it off with dinner at Chin Chin's. A fun long weekend with lots of shopping and some relaxing in our new apartment. Here is a picture of A&A's fav didi's in Dallas - thank you girls for entertaining the twins.
Talya's birthday - This is what you get when you take almost 4 year olds to a sweet salon! These girls ate it up - make up, nails and hair styles. Topped it off with a very funny and entertaining limo ride. Needless to say they didn't want to leave! Thank you Talya for letting us mum's experience this through our babies!!

What did I smile about in October!

The fall always seems to go by so quick - lots of festivities combined with some travel! Hope you all had a blessed Indian Festive month.

Austin trip - Our first trip for the month was to Austin and as usual the kids had a blast with their friends. Patels thank you for your hospitality again! The three diva's loved bugging Aadit as he tried to watching TV in peace.
Zara's birthday - this little darling is 1! We got dressed for the cold and it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day.
ACL - Our second trip for the month was to Austin again but this time it was just Amit and I. This was our first time leaving the kids over night. They did great and were very well behaved for Dadi and Dada.

Happy birthday Anar! - our first time visiting a Texas winery. A beautiful day spent with great friends.
Arboretum - Pumpkin time at the Arboretum and we took Dada and dadi with us this time. The twins loved running around and weren't very cooperative with this pictures this year. But I got a few so cant complain too much.
Landin's birthday - The longest birthday party we have ever been too. Lots and lots of fun with their friends.
Navratri - with all the travel and birthdays we almost missed Garba. Luckily for us there was one late event to cherish. Aariya and Aashna love to dance so no surprise they had a blast.
Diwali - We were scheduled to be in NY for the actual day so we celebrated a week earlier. This year we had a big bash thanks to Masi ba and got to celebrate with our friends. We didnt decorate the house much this year so I thoroughly enjoyed setting up the party spot.
New York - a very last minute trip to the big apple. This was the first trip for my inlaws with all of us (including aval). The weather was a little cold but it warmed up just enough for us to enjoy the statue of liberty and hit a few of the hot spots. Also squeezed in some Bahrain family time. Thank you Aditi for being our tour guide and helping us navigate the subway!

Halloween - According to Aashna this was the best day ever. Aariya had her speech down "Happy halloween, trick or treat, thank you for the candy"! She said this every time she walked up to a door. It was so fun watching them totally get into the Halloween spirit! These three look like triplets - next year may be we can dress them together in some theme (if they let us that is).
